‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 finale: Is a Negan, Morgan appearance needed?

More news -Tonight marks the season 5 finale for “The Walking Dead,” but before we get too much into that episode airing, we do still have another question that is very much worth asking: How badly does the show really need an appearance from Negan or Morgan in order to give the fans some sort of pay off for the past 15 episodes? Obviously, killing off a character produces a certain element of shock value, but is it shocking enough when you consider that they’ve already killed off quite a few main characters already this season? We are not entirely sure that it is enough.

Of the two, we would argue that a Morgan appearance is far more essential, given the fact that he is someone who has appeared on the season twice already. It feels like you need someone like him to show up in Alexandria to help bring crazy Rick back to reality and remember where he started from and what all of this is really about: Finding a safe place for him and his family to rebuild. It feels like the group has been in the town long enough for Morgan to catch up to them and the finale would be a great time for that to happen.

Also, we cannot dismiss the potentially beautiful full-circle moment that would come from being able to actually see Morgan and Rick back together again, especially if it is Morgan helping Rick this time around. There is something about these two characters coming back together so many times through out this massive world that tells us that there is something deeper about their connection.

As for Negan, the demand is there, given that he is one of the most popular characters from the comics. However, there are two problems:

1. As we mentioned, he’s from the comics. We’re not sure if there is that much enthusiasm from the standard TV fan to see this character on the show without really knowing about him. It’s more of a specialty fan thing then anything a casual viewer would be clamoring for.

2. Also, we have a hard time imagining that the show managed to cast the character and then keep it a secret for months since the end of filming. Are they really that good?

What do you think: Do we need Negan, Morgan, both, or neither in the finale for “The Walking Dead” tonight?
