‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: First look at big Nina Dobrev – Ian Somerhalder story

Did you really think that there would be smooth sailing for Damon and Elena on “The Vampire Diaries” moving forward? If you did then you really haven’t been paying attention over the years! Even though these two have finally found their way back to each other, there is a human concern that is coming for them: The fact that Jo and Alaric are having a child together. Ultimately, what this means is that they get to move forward and celebrate a new phase of their lives, while Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev’s characters are more or less stuck in the same position. This is just an unfortunate consequence of them being vampires … but it is still something that could cause tension.

The attached photo is from the April 16 return of the series, and it seems rather emotional, but not in a “someone is about to kill us” sort of way. Sure, these two characters do have a whole lot on their mind other than just seeing one of their friends take a big step forward in life. After all, they also have Stefan and Caroline out there on a killing spree, and no real idea as to how to handle it.

Hopefully, the end of the episode will serve as a partial sense of clarity here in terms of how these two move forward, but you also have to wonder that if Damon could cure Elena, would he do it, even with the realization that he would someday be left on the world alone? There’s a difference between saying something and then actually having the courage to go through with it. Sometimes selfishness and fear of loneliness can wash over a person, the same goes for vampires.
