‘Veep’ season 4 promo: Selina lives the Presidential life

Veep -Do you think that Selina Meyer is going to be a good President of the United States? Personally, we severely doubt it, but that is a part of what makes the upcoming fourth season of “Veep” premiering April 12 so interesting. you are ultimately going to have someone at the center of the show who is not even remotely good at representing the American people. She’s foul, power-hungry, and really an awful person to be around most of the time. Yet, somehow she’s found herself by chance leading the free world.

Based on the promo below, she is going to be facing many of the same exact problems she faced as Vice-President in the new season, just in a more substantial way. Sure, the show could give us a sense of how she solves international problems, but it is far more interesting to watch her cringe while reading a book to children at Easter. Anytime Selina has to pretend to be nice, we laugh … and Presidents have to pretend a whole lot.

Of course, the funny thing about a “Veep” promo in particular is that this is a tough thing to cram into thirty seconds, and the show really is going all-out when you have the absurdity, the swearing, and all of that stuff happening. It’s hard to replicate that feeling in a tiny amount of time.

What is remarkable about this show over the years is that while we would not say that it has ever been our favorite comedy on TV, it is unbelievably consistent. We’re continuing shocked by how we have never felt it enter a serious lull in three years.
