‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: New promo with Dwayne Johnson, Aidy Bryant, George Ezra

Dwayne Johnson’s muscles are enormous. While there may have been a few chances before now that we’ve seen this, you really get a good sense of it when you see him in a “Saturday Night Live” promo alongside Aidy Bryant and musical guest George Ezra. Most of the comedy in this episode could very much revolve around seeing a ridiculously muscular man doing things that would be embarrassing to other people. Then again, can anything really embarrass a man who decides previously to do “Tooth Fairy”?

The promo below is at least mildly funny, and mostly because someone decided that Ezra was not meant to speak here. Basically, Americans who have never actually heard him sing before are going to be suddenly surprised and hopefully blown away by him the moment that he starts hitting a few notes.

As for the actual jokes, they are most definitely “meh” in every way we could possibly describe. For example, there is absolutely nothing particularly endearing about listening to another joke about “what The Rock is cooking.” Since Dwayne is not even going by that particular nickname anymore, can we just try to move on from the wrestling character for a time?

Once again, we find ourselves hoping here that this promo is a little lame simply because “SNL” is waiting to unleash most of the good stuff on the show itself this weekend, and does not want to ruin the fun for anyone just yet.
