‘American Idol XIV’ spoilers: Theme for Nick Fradiani, Daniel Seavey, top 9; Kelly Clarkson returns

Top 9 -Next week, it is fair to say that we are going to have a most event episode of “American Idol XIV.” Why is that? Let’s just say that we are going to have the return of the first winner of the entire competition in Kelly Clarkson. Not only will she mentor the remaining nine contestants, but she is also going to help guide them through some of her own music!

Per Mjsbigblog, the remaining contestants will all be performing songs from Kelly’s songbook, which spans well over a decade of music and a variety of different genres. It feels inevitable that someone will do “Since U Been Gone” or “Miss Independent,” with “Stronger” and “Because of You” most likely also being locks. Meanwhile, we hope that “A Moment Like This” remains untouched, and some people are bold enough to do some tracks from “My December,” the risky album Kelly did that failed to have many hit singles beyond “Never Again.”

We definitely understand the show wanting to dedicate a whole night to Kelly. They have not quite done this before, and you’ve got an interesting group of contestants to take on some of her songs. We’re not sure what all of them will do, but bonus points if they figure out unique ways to bring creativity to these well-known tracks.

Oh, and Kelly is also going to perform on the show next week, though we presume that you would have assumed this already, since it would be terribly cruel to bring the original champion back and then not have hear actually perform anything.
