‘Shark Tank’ video: The Home T draws questions from Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec

Shark Tank -The premise of The Home T on Friday night’s “Shark Tank” episode appears to be simple enough. Almost everyone out there has fond memories of their home, and misses it to a certain extent. Therefore, why wouldn’t they want a way to pay tribute to where they are from in a certain way?

In the sneak peek below, we at least get a sense that this idea, which is mostly a line of shirts and other products with your state on them and “home” branded across them (at least for the most part), is reasonably successful. There is over a million bucks in sales over a 12-month period, and that is pretty great! The problem that we run into here is that this feels almost more like a fad than it does a permanent company. Fashion is such an ever-changing business, and this company would have to continue to come up with new ideas to keep their same message intact. That could be a little more difficult than the standard clothing brand.

What Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec seem to suggest at the end of the sneak peek (which is strangely edited and out of context, by the way) is that they don’t completely buy some of the grassroots marketing campaign claims that are being thrown around. We can’t really speak to that, but it feels like this is the sort of thing that could go viral. We could actually see it making tons of money just tonight alone after the show!

The real issue we wonder right now is whether or not this is an idea that really needs a shark attached to it: He already knows what he wants his company to be, and also how to effectively sell the shirts. He just needs publicity. That’s why we imagine there will be no heartbreak here if he goes home empty-handed.
