‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4, episode 14 preview: Everyone wants the Author

Sunday night’s “Once Upon a Time” episode is all about an undercover mission, and also learning a thing or two about the Author. Namely, we’re figuring out that everyone wants to figure out who this man or woman is.

In the sneak peek below, you can see the latest on Operation Mongoose’s current mission: Seeing if Regina (Lana Parrilla) can figure out the secret behind the Queens of Darkness’ plan from the inside. She has a not-so-quiet rendezvous with Team Charming (and “their pirate mascot”) in the library, which seems to be a pretty terrible place for a meeting since it is otherwise so quiet. She tells the group that the Queens have a lead to finding the Author that they don’t, and it revolves around stealing something. Apparently, this is dangerous, and it is precisely why Emma is worried for the once-Evil Queen. They’re all in this together! Ultimately, this serves as a rather nice reminder of the unity now exists between these people.

Clearly, this Operation is not something that will be complete at any point in the near future. Co-creator Adam Horowitz tweeted out the episode title for the penultimate hour this season earlier in the week, and it is “Operation Mongoose: Part I.” Therefore, it feels like this is a story that will keep going strong until the end of the season.

The one question that we have for Sunday night’s new episode in particular is rather simple: Is Rumpelstiltskin ever going to be revealed to the others in Storybrooke, or will he continue to operate and pull the strings behind the scenes? It feels like the earlier he is exposed, the better off the rest of the season is going to be.
