‘American Idol XIV’ results: Were Lovey James, Shi Scott, Adanna Duru, Shannon Berthiaume eliminated?

American Idol -Last night, we admit to being extremely surprised with some of the results of the “American Idol” vote. After all, why get rid of someone like Savion Wright or Riley Bria, who were both very good through most of the competition?

Well, tonight we were worried about a repeat, but for the most part, we feel like the voting public got it pretty wright tonight. Shi Scott going home, for example, was expected. She took a big risk that did not entirely work, and she ended up paying for that in the vote. Meanwhile, Katherine Winston had very little screen time throughout the competition. These are both women we predicted earlier in the week to be eliminated.

As for the other two, we had them staying, but only by the slimmest of margins. Lovey James was eliminated after having a weaker performance, and she also probably was hurt by the misfortune of going first on the night. Meanwhile, Shannon Berthiaume’s mistakes in Hollywood Week probably came back to bite her a little bit more than we thought that they would. We figured that her status as the rare female rocker would help her out tremendous. That did not quite work.

Next week, we’re going to see the entire top twelve be revealed, and that is something we are tremendously excited to see. Hopefully, we’ll have a surprise or two, but this is the sort of thing where we do actually want the best singers to make it all the way there. Surprises are appreciated, but only sometimes! The rest of the time, we’d rather have contestants who we know already can bring it.
