‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Brace for Hook’s past with Ursula

Everyone on “Once Upon a Time” has a past, and this is probably even more true when you are someone who has lived as long as Captain Hook has. In between his time in Neverland and in the Enchanted Forest, he and Rumpelstiltskin are probably the show’s more mysterious characters with plenty of life experience under their belts already. This leaves the door open for quite a lot of history between various characters, and much of it may still be floating around the ether.

Want one example? You really do not have to look a whole lot further than Captain Hook and Ursula. These two are characters who apparently clashed at some point in the past, and based on what show co-creator Edward Kitsis tells TVLine,

“When you think about what would be worse than having your heart broken, I would say having your soul crushed. You’re going to see the entire flashback of what happened, with the origin of Ursula.”

What does this mean? It’s certainly not good, but don’t count on it being some sort of romance. She obviously did something else terrible to him which may further inform why he is the way that he is now. What we find interesting about this current stretch of episodes is that for the time being, he appears to be fairly committed to trying to be one of the good guys. However, at the same time Emma Swan could be on the road to darkness, given that we just learned how great of a capacity for evil she holds within her.
