‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 spoilers: First look at ‘The Colonization Application’

Why does Sheldon look so defensive in the first photo from Thursday night’s new “Big Bang Theory” episode “The Colonization Application”? Let’s just say that he has quite a bit to be defensive about at the moment.

One of the main storylines for this episode is going to be adding some new tension to the Sheldon / Amy relationship, as she learns that he signed up for a program that would allow him to go to a Mars colony. Of course, she’s not too happy about this. Couples tend to share their plans for extraterrestrial travel with one another. Granted, maybe Sheldon’s talking about something entirely different in this photo, but it is a little too early to tell at the moment.

Now that we’ve said all of this, we of course believe that there is no way that Sheldon actually goes to Mars. For one, the technology isn’t there; also, the show is far less exciting with him not around some of the other characters.

Elsewhere in this episode, the tension could also be building for Raj and Emily after she determines that he is a bit of a snoop! Why would he be so insecure? Well, let’s face it: This is not a guy with a robust history of being in relationships. He is probably afraid that he is going to screw this up at every given second, and this is ironically probably how he will end up screwing it up. Paranoia can get the best of you, and this is the longest relationship he’s ever been in. Lucy was really the only other woman he’s ever been close to on a similar level.
