NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: Ellie Goulding to mentor Adam Levine’s team in Battle Rounds

Adam Levine -Are the lights calling Adam Levine home? Maybe, given that Ellie Goulding is set to be his adviser during the upcoming battle rounds on “The Voice” season 8. People Magazine was the first to report this news, and they do so right in the thick of what is a very intense week and a half of Blind Auditions.

Goulding is basically a national treasure of the United Kingdom at this point, given that she performed at the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge’s wedding, she has a variety of hits across the pond, and she has a cover of Elton John’s “Your Song” that is so famous, younger generations probably think that she actually recorded the original. Her two biggest hits in America are likely the aforementioned “Lights” as well as “Let It Burn.”

The other mentors for the battles have already been confirmed: Lionel Richie will be with Team Pharrell, Team Christina will have Nick Jonas (who just performed on the show in the fall), and Team Blake will surprisingly have Meghan Trainor. We say “surprisingly” here since this is one of the most random pairings ever, and we have no clue how well these two even know each other.

What makes Ellie a perfect addition to Adam’s repertoire of insight is that like him, she has a very distinctive voice, and she has worked to find the best avenues for it throughout her career. Neither are known for hitting huge notes or rocking out power ballads. They are a little more subtle, and know how to play with emotion.
