Netflix sets ‘Orange Is the New Black’ season 3 premiere date; still waiting on ‘Longmire’ season 4

OITNB -Netflix today did a good thing for those of its users who are not currently steamrolling through new episodes of “House of Cards”: Reminded you of when some of its other shows are going to be released this spring.

Let’s start things off here with what is probably the main event in the return of “Orange is the New Black” with new episodes. Come Friday, June 12 at 3:00 a.m. Eastern time, all 13 episodes of the Taylor Schilling series are going to be available for your viewing pleasure. Sound tremendous to anyone else? Well, we’re still figuring out how we are going to cover it. Netflix is still somewhat of a mystery for the TV critic, given that almost everything is watched at your own pace.

In addition to this, Netflix confirmed that science fiction series “Sense8” will premiere on Friday, June 5. There is another series in “Between” starring Jeannette McCurdy that is going to start streaming in May, but no specific date has been announced yet.

What about “Longmire“? We know that there is a devoted following out there curious about a return date, hence why we wanted to spend a minute or two discussing it here. The show premiered on June 2 last year on A&E. However, due in part to the late renewal on Netflix and the need to have all episodes completed at the same time, it is going to most likely be late summer / fall before you get a chance to see all episodes of season 4. It’s a long wait, but it is definitely better than what would’ve been the alternative (i.e. no “Longmire” at all).

As per usual, we’ll have further scoop on all things TV as the news breaks. You can also sign up now in the event you want some further updates on everything we cover sent right over, courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Netflix.)
