‘Outlander’ episodes 1-8 to premiere on Amazon in UK; episode 9 to air soon

There has been a fairly bizarre story surrounding “Outlander” so far. Despite the series being set in Scotland and being largely about its history, there has not actually been a broadcast for the series so far. It America, the show airs on Starz, and it could be one of its biggest hits of all time when it returns with episode 9 on Saturday, April 4.

Luckily, this pretty ridiculous problem seems to have finally been solved. Amazon UK has acquired the series, and has announced in addition to that when you are going to be able to watch it on Prime Instant Video. Beginning on March 24, you will be able to watch all of the episodes from the first half of the season on the service. Meanwhile, the remaining installments will be posted weekly starting on April 5, which is really only hours after it airs in some parts of America when you consider the time differences and all of that. Given how North America has to wait sometimes months for British series like “Call the Midwife” and “Downton Abbey,” this is a rather nice arrangement.

With all of this being said, we know that there are some out there who do still prefer traditional TV to anything else. To these people, the only message we can really offer you is that sooner or later, getting with the times is just what you have to do, however hard it may be. Amazon has a great system going! While we don’t necessarily love them getting exclusivity to a variety of the shows that they re-air, they are becoming more and more of a rival for Netflix. This is a huge get for them, especially given the series’ built-in popularity.
