‘The Voice UK’ preview: The battle rounds begin … with more steals!

Voice -Just in case you were not already excited about the start of the Battle Rounds on “The Voice UK” this weekend, know this: There are more steals this season than ever before! Specifically, there will be an opportunity for the coaches to snatch up two other artists from other teams, and then carry them through to the next phase. Unfortunately, the promo below does not do even a remotely good job of telling us just who some of these people are going to be.

We must admit that when it comes to this part of the competition, we are probably a bigger hater than anyone out there. For the most part, it just comes across as irritating, since you are throwing contestants into a venue that is completely different from what they are doing the rest of the time. Then, you are commanding that they have to be good at it. Sometimes, you get a good battle … but we feel like you would get more amazing solo performances than you do great battles in the mix here.

If nothing else, the addition of the steal has made things a million times more interesting on the show. Why? Let’s just say that it livens things up, and keeps things from being entirely predictable. Also, people love to watch other piece pressing buttons. This is why the Blind Auditions here and everything on “Britain’s Got Talent” all work so well.

Hopefully, we are only a few weeks away from the live shows. We wish that there were more of them in the end, but that’s just not what seems to drive the ratings for this show based on the evidence out there.
