‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: The quest for Ian Somerhalder’s Damon

Damon -Let us start here with what may be a rather unfortunate reminder to many of you out there: There is no new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” airing on The CW Thursday night. The show is now on hiatus until Thursday, March 12, but hopefully the wait will be worth it when you remember what is going to be coming up with Damon.

Specifically, what we are talking about here is the quest by him to save his mother Lily, who is apparently trapped all the way back in time in order to figure out how to bring her back from the past. Who knew that this show would start to become more like “Doctor Who”? Elsewhere, the epic Stefan / Caroline love story will continue, and we will continue to wonder what in the world is going on with Enzo. “A Bird in a Gilded Cage” is the title for the hour on March 19, and you can read our full synopsis below:

“With the help of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) set forth a plan to rescue Damon’s mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching), who is trapped in the 1903 prison world. Meanwhile, when Caroline’s (Candice Accola) plan for Stefan (Paul Wesley) backfires, she is left to pick up the pieces. Elsewhere, back at Whitmore College, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Alaric’s (Matt Davis) attempt to reel Caroline back in doesn’t quite go as planned when they realize they’re outmaneuvered. Lastly, an unexpected gift from Bonnie leaves Damon shaken to his core.”

Above all else, we’re intrigued by seeing how Bonnie fits in now with the rest of the characters in the cast now that she is back … and whether or not she is haunted by any particular trauma that she went through.
