‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 will premiere at Tower of London
When you have one of the greatest and most-popular shows on all of television, this apparently gives you the luxury to premiere your latest season in really cool places.
For the first time since its inception, “Game of Thrones” is set to world premiere its newest season in Europe before the United States, and it will specifically launch at a gala at the famed Tower of London on March 18. This is an event being put on by Sky Atlantic, the broadcaster who serves as a pay-TV channel throughout much of Europe. This is a great chance for many locals in the UK to see the stars up close and personal. It also means less travel time for many of them; while some of the show’s stars do live out in America, the majority of them are from either the UK (the show films in Northern Ireland) or other parts of Europe.
In confirming the news about the premiere, Sky’s own managing director of content Gary Davey had the following to say:
“Across Europe Game of Thrones is loved by Sky customers and a brand-defining show for Sky Atlantic … As the exclusive home of Game of Thrones in our home markets, it’s tremendously exciting for Sky to host the first world premiere in Europe with our partners from HBO.”
“Game of Thrones” season 5 has an American premiere date of Sunday, April 12, and hopefully by that time HBO is going to have ready their a la carte service in order for viewers to watch the show without a normal cable subscription.
