‘Girls’ season 4: Allison Williams speaks out about father Brian’s NBC News suspension

Just as Brian Williams is contacted about almost everything that his daughter Allison does on “Girls,” including a certain (and very shocking) scene with Desi during the season 4 premiere, Allison is also being asked to comment about everything happening with her father. You knew this was coming eventually, and the actress has now finally issued some of her first statements regarding the elder Williams’ six-month suspension from NBC News over comments he made about his time in Iraq, which were exaggerated far beyond the realm of reality.

Well, Allison has finally spoken out. During a chat per the New York Post with late-night host / fellow NBC personality Seth Meyers, she discussed her father in just about the only way that she could. Without sounding overly defensive, she still stood by her dad and believed that he was a strong, trustworthy person, even if a good percentage of the country may have a different opinion of him:

“This has been a really hard time … One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He’s a really good man, an honest man, a truthful man — he has so much integrity and so much respect for journalism. And, yes, he’s a really good dad. I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I’ve tested him on that.”

Ultimately, did you expect her to say anything different? While her comments are important just from the standpoint of her speaking up, it’s hardly noteworthy from a content point of view. Of course she would defend her father, just as her father would defend her.

Williams could return to the air in late summer. Meanwhile, “Girls” will air new episodes every Sunday on HBO.
