‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 16 preview: Marcia Cross guest stars in ‘December Solstice’

Law & Order: SVU logoWe have a brand-new episode of “Law & Order: SVU” coming up again next week, and this one looks to be yet another one that has a “ripped from the headlines” flavor to it. We’ve heard that the sad situation of the late Casey Kasem is one of the inspirations for next week’s new episode “December Solstice,” which is an interesting and important story for a variety of different reasons. It is a different sort of case for one than what we are accustomed to seeing; in addition to that, this is also a chance to see Marcia Cross make one of her first major appearances since “Desperate Housewives” as one of the important women at the center of the story.

In case you have not seen the official synopsis yet, take a look at it below:

“Celebrity author Walter Briggs (guest star Robert Vaughn) is the focus of a feud between his sixth wife, Charmaine (guest star Marcia Cross), and his daughters from previous marriages (guest stars Emily Bergl and Susan Pourfar). The fight over control for both his well-being and his estate becomes a criminal case when Charmaine is accused of abusing her husband. Meanwhile, Barba (Raul Esparza) struggles with his own family drama when he goes against his grandmother’s wishes.”

This episode caps off what has been a busy February sweeps for the show, given that we have seen everything from Gamergate to a mother doing everything in her power to protect her child featured at one point or another. Benson has had her hands full, and that is just discussing some of what she is up to on the job. We’re not even getting into here what she has on her plate at home.
