‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 15 video: One additional ‘Undercover Mother’ sneak peek

“Law & Order: SVU” never quite gives you cases that are ordinary. They are complicated cases with complicated people involved, and this can be said all over again when it comes to the new episode airing on NBC Wednesday night.

As the sneak peek below indicates, we are dealing with a woman so desperate to figure out how to save her daughter Ariel that she finds herself completely wrapped up within a prostitution ring. She is working in order to understand the ins and out of it, but then also use money that she has received via church donations in order to “buy” some women from the local pimp. She was hoping to do this to save her own daughter, but now, the police are involved.

So what happens from here? Basically, the SVU is going to do what it can using some of its own resources in order to help, but this particular woman has to be compliant for it to work. Otherwise, she faces charges of her own for some of her actions.

In a way, the human condition, and the love of a parent for her child, have each been significant themes of this season. We have seen them play out in a variety of the different cases that we’ve seen Benson take on, where parents decide that rather than trust the police to get the job done, they try to take matters into their own hands. Maybe this is a commentary on the determination of a parent, or distrust in law enforcement.

Luckily, we know that the SVU are the good guys. They will do everything that they can.
