Super Bowl commercials: William Shatner, Kaley Cuoco keep the Priceline Negotiator alive
Remember when it felt like Priceline was actually going to stop doing their famed ads starring William Shatner? From our vantage point, that was definitely the darkest timeline since we never want to imagine the company without Shatner around.
Luckily, we are pleased to see that the company’s spokesperson is back in action for Sunday night’s Super Bowl commercial. He is featured in Sunday night’s ad alongside Kaley Cuoco, who has her own following thanks to “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS. These two are big names, and we feel like these sort of ads help to ensure that they stay at the top of the list for travel websites.
Is this commercial the best that they’ve ever done? Let’s take a look.
The good – Shatner first and foremost. He oozes charisma, and his “I know a guy” shtick is perfect for this character. Also, we didn’t see the Kaley cameo coming, and that’s funny because we knew that she had filmed something for the company! Priceline is sold well, and its biggest argument being that even though there are competitors, it has been around for a long time and it knows just what it is doing.
The bad – We don’t necessarily think that the commercial is hilarious, and will make any top ten lists for the best commercials of this Super Bowl season, but we still love that Shatner is back in action.
The verdict – It’s not extremely memorable, but it is yet another solid ad from Priceline. They are one of those companies that knows exactly what it wants to do, and is not going to stray from it. Grade: B-.
