‘Outlander’ episode 9: Another Caitriona Balfe project to look forward to

Saturday, April 4 marks the return of “Outlander” to Starz, and we are very well aware that this is a rather long wait. Will it be worth it? Hopefully so; we can at least commend Starz for doing a tremendous job with releasing new teasers here and there throughout the entire waiting process.

The news we have for you today should give you something in addition to episode 9 to look forward to, given that it is proof that Hollywood is clearly taking notice to the attention that the show is receiving. According to a new story from The Hollywood Reporter, Caitriona Balfe (who you otherwise know as Claire from the series) is going to be appearing in “Money Monster,” the upcoming film from director Jodie Foster that is starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Jack O’Connell. Clooney will play a TV personality in the world of business and stock trading who is trapped on live TV, and forced to figure out a way to survive with the help of his producer (Roberts).

Specifically, Balfe is going to play a PR representative for a company who saw its stock plummet. O’Connell is the man holding the place hostage, and he saw his life savings go completely away.

For those potentially worried about if this will conflict with “Outlander,” don’t be. It is common practice for TV actors to do some movie roles in their off time; it gives them a chance to do another character, and explore a different world. Plus, TV is not so stigmatized anymore for actors as it once was, and we feel like the quality of the work is actually better here than it is anywhere else.
