‘Glee’ season 6, episode 5 review: Where did Kurt and Blaine go in that elevator?

Glee -“The Hurt Locker” two-parter of “Glee” is now over, and we have to say that for the most part, this is very good news. There were many storylines in here that were quite frankly awkward, and we’re still not quite sure what to make of them.

Why? Let’s talk relationships for a minute, and how the most frustrating part about them on the show right now is that they are being established mostly based off of corny gimmicks, and not really off of anything genuine. For example, we finally saw Kurt and Blaine kiss in this episode, but it was not until after Sue Sylvester decided that she was going to lock them up in an elevator together. We would have preferred something a little more in the real world, and not something that was anywhere near as manipulative as what we ultimately received here in the end.

Also, you can say the same thing about Rachel and Sam. Are they over? We’re not entirely sure, though Rachel did stop another kiss from happening. The idea of hypnotism being behind all this is kind of frustrating, regardless of if you ‘ship the two together or not.

Also tonight, New Directions somehow won the invitational, probably thanks to Kitty rejoining and Spencer ultimately being convinced to take part, as well. They are nowhere near the numbers that they need to be at, but we consider this to be a pretty good start for them.

This show has lost a little of the buzz it had in the early going this season, and that is mostly due to the inherent feeling that we’ve seen so much of this before with the glee-club competition. We thought we were going to focus more specific on arts education and the politics there, and that hasn’t really been labeled as the main course. Instead, it’s a tiny side dish that is forgotten about. Grade: C+.
