‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: James Spader, explosions in Super Bowl ad

The Blacklist logo any seasonNBC has released many of their Super Bowl spots for their programming lineup today, and for the most part, we have to say that they’ve really went all-out with them! They realize that they have to figure out how to make these ads stand out more than a typical promo would, and therefore, they are using a little bit of creativity.

For their spot for “The Blacklist,” what they’ve done here is create a sense of style, and appealing very heavily to the Raymond Reddington character played by James Spader. In the video below, you can see Red surrounded by violence, seemingly taking his time walking away from explosion after explosion. With the standards in the background, this feels almost like a post-apocalyptic thriller combined with something straight out of the “Bioshock” video game series.

As a whole, we like it despite of it being relatively cheesy. For casual fans, it is right up their alley, since it may inspire a few of them to watch. We have a very hard time, however, thinking that this is really going to make too huge of an impression on people who are a little more in the way of devoted viewers. There’s nothing in here that comes across as even remotely a spoiler.

There will be a new episode of “The Blacklist” that is of course airing after the Super Bowl on Sunday, and then following that, the show moves to Thursday nights. The first episode will air February 5, and it will directly follow up the episode after the big game.
