Ratings: ‘Hart of Dixie’ season 4 improves; is the show gaining traction?

Hart of Dixie -Going into this season of “Hart of Dixie,” we have to admit that we were not exactly optimistic about the idea of the show getting another season on The CW. The ratings have been so-so at best, and most of the cast seemed to be thinking as though the fourth go-around on the network was going to be it.

However, an interesting thing has since happened, and we wonder if having this show as one of the only ones not currently renewed by the network for another season makes the fans want to rally. After all, last night’s new episode “The Very Good Bagel” drew a very good (given the network, the history, and the timeslot) 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is the best figure we’ve seen the show get so far this season, and if it keeps this up, then the show moves closer to being in the same category as “Reign” and “The 100” when it comes to the network’s lower-rated but still-renewed shows.

If the show draws a 0.5 the rest of the season, we do think that it will be renewed for another season … but we still have a long way to go in order to get there. After all, this is the first time the show has done it, and it also will become harder come the end of February, when it starts to get a little warmer in parts of the United States. It’s hard to get an established audience going for Friday nights.

The number the show really needs to stay away from is the 0.3. That basically would be a nail in its coffin.
