‘Glee’ season 6, episode 4 video: Sue Sylvester hypnotizes Sam to fall for Rachel

SueTonight, “Glee” returns with an all-new episode entitled “The Hurt Locker: Part 1,” and you can be sure that this one will have at least one story in it that is rather polarizing.

Why is that? Basically, it is because this story revolves around Sue Sylvester deciding that she wants to get to Rachel Berry in a very different fashion than usual, and it involves manipulating her emotions. She knows that Sam (Chord Overstreet) is easily susceptible to suggestion, and therefore starts to hypnotize him into thinking that he could be in love with her, and will try to kiss her if she says the right combination of words. This is a pretty low blow for Sue, given that Finn was such an important part of McKinley High and of Rachel’s life. Also, it’s a risky move for “Glee” fans, since we know that there are some who don’t want to see Rachel with someone else. Personally, we feel like the character should be allowed to find happiness somewhere else, but it has to be organic and not forced in some sort of weird fashion like this.

Ultimately, it’s hard to see this whole plan by Sue really working, anyway. We also have zero indication that Sam actually likes Rachel in that way, since Mercedes has seemed like more of his endgame partner over the years. We’d prefer his story to end that way, mostly because with many of his other love interests (like Quinn) he has always been second fiddle to someone else. We’re also still wondering what in the world happened to that nurse last year, because it seemed like they could have actually been good together.

Stay tuned, since we’ll have a full review of “The Hurt Locker: Part I” after it airs.
