‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Sophie Turner getting set for super-powerful new role

Sansa -Sophie Turner’s 2015 just got a little bit busier than it was already. After all, she is the latest “Game of Thrones” actor to find her way aboard a major franchise. Emilia Clarke has the “Terminator” reboot, and now, Sophie Turner is joining the world of “X-Men.”

In a post on Twitter, Bryan Singer confirmed that Turner, who is otherwise known as Sansa Stark on the HBO franchise, has been cast to play Jean Grey in “X-Men Apocalypse.” This is the latest edition of a long-running superhero franchise, which has resurrected itself in many ways since Singer first got on board the franchise again. She will be joined by Alexandra Shipp in the role of Storm, and “Mud” actor Tye Sheridan in the role of Cyclops. These three will usher in another generation of mutants into the franchise, even if we saw all of them back when in the original “X-Men” film trilogy.

As for how this is going to shape what Turner does on “Game of Thrones,” don’t expect any major change. The real beauty of this series is that due to the immense cast, each cast member is only required to do so much work. Many of them also have new contracts, which guarantees that they are not going to be leaving the show at any point in the near future.

Season 5 of the series will premiere come Sunday, April 12 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. We’ll have further news leading up to that, so be on the lookout for it!
