‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 11 video: News via Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley

Tonight, “The Vampire Diaries” is returning to The CW with an episode entitled “Woke Up with a Monster,” and we have a couple of different perspectives to share now on what may be a very interesting episode for the show.

Before we do anything else, why not share a word or two from the director? Paul Wesley is responsible for this particular installment, and this is something that he obviously takes seriously, and works really hard it. It’s a different sort of preparation, as well, and probably not something that many fans watching the show from the outside casually really get a sense of.

Well, Paul explained in a recent interview with TVLine just what it takes to be a director, and how this episode was chosen for him to do in the end:

“We don’t get the scripts until maybe two weeks before we film — sometimes it’s more like the day before — and I think they arbitrarily choose an episode number, depending on director availability. When they go to write that episode, they keep in mind that I’m directing it, so they try not to make it Stefan-heavy. This particular episode coming up is certainly not Stefan-heavy, but it’s also not Stefan-light, because he is one of the main characters. There are other characters, like Caroline, Sheriff Forbes, Kai and Elena, whose workloads are much more heavy than mine.”

For something a little different, a bearded Ian Somerhalder gives his own take on the Damon story below, and explains that it was actually a young fan at the airport that really caused him to have a different perspective on his character’s position.
