‘The Amazing Race 26’ cast revealed, including Jonathan Knight of New Kids on the Block

The new season of “The Amazing Race” is premiering come Wednesday, February 25 on CBS, but why in the world would you wait to check out some of the first details in terms of what you can expect? The network has just unveiled the entire cast for the show’s 26th go-around, and while we’ll have some more time to get in-depth on them in the weeks ahead, we like to think that the video below is a nice peek into who some of these people are.

The most well-known person on this season is Jonathan Knight of New Kids on the Block fame, who is present with his partner Harley Rodriguez. They are one of six couples this season with a long-standing relationship.

Now, we have the twist. The remaining five couples are all blind dates set up by producers, which still feels like a hokey and desperate attempt to inject some new energy into a franchise. Some of these people seem to be nice enough, but are they really going to make for interesting TV?

Ultimately, our opinion on all this is pretty simple, at least in that we don’t quite feel like this is entirely our own personal cup of tea. We would much rather see a season that more traditional when it comes to its cast and what it is try to bring to the table. After all, constructing it this way just for the sake of drama feels a little bit too far from the format. Who knows, though? If this improves ratings, we will sing the praises of it for quite some time.
