Is “The Real Housewives of Orange County” starting to become the new lifestyles of the rich and famous? You better believe it. If anyone could make the idea of camping glamorous, it’s Alexis Bellino — and thus, “glamping” was born this week.
We’re still debating here as to what we actually found the most entertaining about the entire trip during this episode — Alexis spending most of her time admiring her new nose, her poem about s’mores, or her having to receive real estate advice from Heather Dubrow. (Can we say all three?) We were also rather stunned at how expensive these ladies have managed to make “glamping” thanks to their expensive additions to what any everyday person would consider actual camping. We actually don’t mind the “Housewives” when there is not so much drama, at least so long as they are taking part in something as completely ridiculous as this very activity was.
This episode also ended up being perfectly balanced thanks to some of the stress happening elsewhere. Gretchen Rossi was still struggling with her voice, and her audition with the Pussycat Dolls was being put in jeopardy as a result. Tamra Barney was also dealing with an issue that required attention as she recovered from her implant removal with Eddie Judge at her side. the best part of this? When Tamra started to make fun of Alexis’ breasts as a subversive way to make herself feel better about going through what she did.
At the moment, we really don’t think that it’s an exaggeration at all to say that “Orange County” is the best edition of the franchise — there is still drama, but there is also enough humor and natural goodwill with these ladies that it does not drag the show down to either depressing or frustrating levels as we have seen with the “Beverly Hills” and “New Jersey” series. Unlike “Atlanta,” we also don’t feel like we’re watching the same thing every week.
What did you think about this episode, and about the season as a whole so far?
