‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: What’s next for Abby’s love life?
Romance has been a theme for “NCIS” at times over the years, but if there is one thing we’ve come to learn about it, it is that for the most part, it has a tendency to come and go. There are times when we see a whole lot of romance, and then times where there is next to none of it at all.
So what specifically lies ahead for the Abby character? She already has a boyfriend in Burt, and for the time being, it does not appear like that is going to be changing. However, that does not mean he will be playing a prominent role in the story for a while. Speaking per TVLine, executive producer Gary Glasberg had the following to pass along when it comes to where Abby’s place in with the story is for a while:
“We step away from [Abby’s romance with Burt] for a little while … Everybody really likes having [Johann Urb] around, so I’m sure you’ll see him again … It’s been nice to have everybody kind of in pleasant relationships!”
What about other relationships? McGee is still with Delilah, and it feels like we are going to get a much more substantial update on things with Tony Tuesday, when we see the return of Marisol Nichols as Zoe Keates. We suppose that all of these stories will play a part again before the season is over, but ultimately, this is just not the sort of show to ever lead off with romance. If it was, we probably would see more of Gibbs’ exes, and Tony and Ziva would have happened in a larger capacity. long before season 11.

They have created such a unique and original character with Abby and totally let it down. The viewers hardly get backstories or real storylines of her. When the show started Abby’s character was so new and refreshing in many ways but the writers ignored her and still do. I’ve seen a few things Pauley Perrette did before/besides NCIS and I was impressed that this woman has so many more to offer. Abby offers a lot of opportunities for character development and a real insight into her relationships with the Team members. I do know she’s a supporting character but she must have a life besides NCIS and while we constantly get to know more about each character, Abby is totally being ignored. I hope the writers will change that someday. She’s definitely not my favorite but why creating a character like her, with that look, being so smart and different when all they do is use her as a side kick and every other season she might gets a little episode.

The only characters that they seem genuinely motivated to develop, evolve, and give any serious consideration to are Gibbs, McGee, and on occasion Bishop. Abby, Palmer, and Tony are stuck in comic relief limbo. I really miss great agent Tony but tptb seem to have absolutely no interest in giving us anything but insignificant, non evolving, inferior Tony. I guess it might take away some attention from the legend of super Gibbs if they let Tony do anything that flatters his character.

I know that for many fans, Abby is their favorite. I think that she is fine as a supporting role but it seems she is one character that never really develops. She is pretty much the same.as she was in the beginning of the show. I like to see the characters change and develop like most people do in real life. They were letting Tony grow up, mature before season 11 but now he seems to be kind of stuck in limbo.
