‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11: Shonda Rhimes cautious on Amelia, Owen

Fans of Amelia and Owen, it is pretty clear that Shonda Rhimes has heard your pleas. With that being said, this does not necessarily mean that she is going to go ahead and get the two characters together on “Grey’s Anatomy” season 11 anytime soon.

In responding to a fan post on Twitter, the prolific writer / showrunner made it clear that she is not figured out just yet exactly what the future holds for these two particular characters. While a good percentage of the internet may want to see them together, that does not necessarily mean that it will happen. We learned long ago with Rhimes that she tends to follow the beat of her own drum, and does not give into demands of anyone online just for the sake of pleasing them. She goes with what suits the story.

For us, we feel like the two parties could make it work, but it really has to be paced correctly. After what happened between Cristina and Owen, it would be too much of a stretch, and potentially even out of character, for him to just jump up out of nowhere and exclaim that he is in love with her. He would need to go through a pretty extensive process, which means dealing with a myriad of doubts, and trying to figure out just what it is that he really wants in the end.

We’ll get an opportunity to see the next move for these characters come Thursday, January 29, when the show returns to ABC with all-new episodes.
