‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ premiere: Geraldo Rivera becomes a ‘steamroller’ (video)

Apparently, Geraldo Rivera is to team names on “The Celebrity Apprentice” what Gary Busey is to acronyms: Once he gets set on something, it is very hard to convince him of anything otherwise.

We have yet another sneak peek for the premiere below (to go along with the others that we’ve posted), and in this one, the newsman decides that the men’s team should be named Vortex. For a minute or two, Ian Ziering and Gilbert Gottfried at least try to come up with some other names, but he doesn’t want to listen. Eventually, someone suggests Team Geraldo, since he’s clearly the only voice being heard. This had us rolling.

The reality is that while Kevin Jonas and others may have wanted a better name, the name doesn’t matter. There have been a history of horrendous names (Team Power, Hydra, whatever the women called themselves the first season) over the entire course of this show, and nobody seems to ever have a sense of humor about it. “Donald Trump’s Misfits” is probably a name that we’d go with, or at least something that got a little bit of laughter out of people.

In the end, we feel like Geraldo is going to be a force on this show. He knows Trump already, he’s got decades of business / news experience, and he is a face and a mustache that America knows. With that being said, his ego could end up getting the best of him. The same goes for the amount of condescension he could have for some of the other contestants, who lack the same resume that he is toating about.
