‘Call the Midwife’ season 4 Christmas Special spoilers: How will Jennifer Worth appear?

Call the Midwife -Ever since we first heard that Vanessa Redgrave was going to be appearing on the upcoming “Call the Midwife” Christmas Special, one of the first questions that we had as a result was pretty simple: How in the world was this going to work?

The BBC has released a rather lengthy synopsis for this episode already, and if you look below, you can find out about a flash-forward for the show, and some more details about a Chummy storyline:

“The episode opens in 2005 with Jennifer Worth at home preparing for Christmas with husband Philip. She reminisces about the friends and colleagues of her youth at Nonnatus House, and as she talks we cut back to 1959.

“Rehearsals are under way for the Sunday School Christmas concert and while Chummy tries to choreograph dancing snowflakes, Trixie sets to work designing a Father Christmas outfit for Fred to wear.

“Chummy is enlisted to help run a poorly managed mother and baby home and with Patsy’s help succeeds in bringing some Christmas joy into the residents’ lives.”

This episode seems to at least be fun at times, but let’s face it: This is also “Call the Midwife,” and therefore a show that is also stuffed full of plenty of sad moments, as well. You are always going to have a trade-off when it comes to this show, and you have to be prepared for it.

We are going to have further news related to this special as we get a little bit closer to the episode, so stay tuned!
