NBC’s ‘The Voice’ winner Craig Wayne Boyd has record deal

Craig -For those wondering what the future holds for Craig Wayne Boyd following his time on “The Voice,” it feels now a little like we have something more in the way of answers.

In a new interview with the Tennessean, the country / southern rock artist confirmed that he is signed with Dot Records (an imprint of the Big Machine label, huge in the country community), and that he hopes to write songs that are personal and really emphasize the storytelling within the song:

“I hope to bring to light songs again that have stories with meanings behind them. I’m hoping for a successful career and to continue to make good music.”

It is always going to be difficult for an artist from “The Voice” or any singing show these days to make it big, mostly because there are so many fish now swimming in the same pond. Basically, you have to work your butt off, and hope that something you do is enough to really capture the attention of radio stations and new consumers.

We do feel like Craig has a shot, mostly because he is going to a format that is more receptive to singing-show winners than other genres are. Also, Blake Shelton has shown a knack for really staying loyal to his artists, and helping them find new venues to succeed in different ways. Even non-winners like Gwen Sebastian and RaeLynn have benefited greatly from his connections and his efforts behind the scenes.

You are probably not going to hear new music from Craig until at some point in the spring, at the earliest. With that being said, it could always take even longer.
