2015 People Magazine Awards: Jon Hamm, ‘Mindy Project,’ Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Hart among winners

To be honest, we’re still trying to figure out what the People Magazine Awards are in order to really write an article about them. Apparently, they are an awards ceremony that aired tonight on NBC, and with Nick Cannon serving as the host of them.

Let’s make it clear here: We are not trying to disparage People Magazine, who at this point have to be one of the biggest in the world. Its just that this crept up out of nowhere! We also do not exactly know how to cover the winners, except to share the TV-related ones here from the night with a little commentary.

TV Performance, Actor – Jon Hamm, “Mad Men.” Stop the presses! JON HAMM FINALLY WON SOMETHING! We’re kidding slightly, given that he has won Golden Globes. It’s just funny that so much of the buzz around “Mad Men” is how the actors never win any Emmy Awards.

TV Performance, Actress – Lisa Kudrow, “The Comeback.” We salute this one, mostly because who would’ve though Kudrow would win this year for a show we never envisioned returning to the air ever again? Crazy.

Comedy Star – Kevin Hart. He’s kind of a TV guy, or at least he has been. Makes sense to put him here.

Talk Show Host – Jimmy Fallon. Not our pick, but okay.

Breakout Star – Billy Eichner. ALWAYS our pick.

Style Icon – Gwen Stefani. Hey, she is on “The Voice.”

Triple Threat – Jennifer Lopez. Same, but “American Idol.”

TV Couple – Mindy Kaling and Chris Messina, “The Mindy Project.” We’re just about as excited for this as Jon Hamm.
