Is ‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 11 new tonight? Also, Ian Somerhalder news

Today, we present some great news and bad news when it comes to “The Vampire Diaries,” starting with the bad news: There is no new episode airing on The CW tonight.

The reason for that? It comes down to the network wanting to save new episodes for the new year, since there are many more opportunities to tell stories. Plus, there is a certain amount of nervousness that also comes with airing episodes so close to the holidays. So many people are traveling! Also, there are plenty of other people who are simply going to have other things going on.

Now, we turn to the good news: Ian Somerhalder is going to be directing his first episode of the series! The actor confirmed this news in a post on Instagram, where he had the following to say:

“This is pretty cool too… Who is directing the next episode? On set with him right now;) Thank you to all involved in the decision-making process for giving me the opportunity to do this-I am so grateful. I’ll do my very verry very best not to screw it up.”

Ian’s co-star Paul Wesley directed an episode of “The Vampire Diaries” last year, and is going to be doing another one before Ian takes the reigns. Somerhalder’s episode is the 16th of the season, and is probably going to air at some point in early March / late April depending on how the season is divided up.
