‘The X Factor’ UK: Mark Ronson rushed ‘Uptown Funk’ release due to Fleur East

The latest news -There’s a funny story that is coming out right now about “The X Factor,” and ultimately, it shows that this show really does have more of an impact than you would often imagine that it does with the music business.

The example today is that Mark Ronson apparently needed to rush the release of his single “Uptown Funk” with Bruno Mars in the UK, mostly because of the fact that contestant Fleur East was having a big hit with it overseas thanks to the show.

Speaking about this subject in an interview with NME, Ronson said that the show influenced his decision, and while he did not appreciate it at first, he ultimately grew to:

“I was in the States and I saw on Twitter that Nick Hodgson [ex-Kaiser Chiefs] said, ‘Fleur East killing it with Uptown Funk’. I was like, ‘Oh that must be X Factor, that’s cool’.

“Then I was like, ‘Wait, don’t the X Factor songs come actually out on iTunes?’ and then slowly this logic in my head unfolded. I realized this girl’s cover’s going to come out before our own … So yeah, for a minute I was a little bit annoyed and then we kind of rushed ours, which is good ’cause I think whatever it took to get the song out.”

Ultimately, we feel like Ronson really has quite a bit to be pleased with here, if for no other reason than that this has actually propelled his own release much higher in the country than it would have been. Sometimes, even crazy publicity is good publicity.
