‘The Blacklist,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago PD,’ other shows could benefit from NBC’s new live stream

The Blacklist logo any seasonFor the most part, major TV networks have been a little sheepish when it comes to dipping their feet into the world of live streams. Some of it may have to deal with negotiations with cable providers, who have such a stranglehold over the market for networks.

With that being said, it feels like some of them are leaving good money on the table but not offering official streams when there are so many unauthorized ones out there. Luckily, NBC is starting to listen up a little! Starting today for some PC users, with other devices coming soon, you can stream the network like straight from their official website. There is still one caveat with it, at least in that you have to validate your subscription in order to watch. Why? Once again, we’re going to point the finger at cable providers, who want to make sure that they don’t get abandoned for other options.

For fans of “The Blacklist,” “Chicago PD,” “The Voice,” or many of the network’s other shows, this is great news. Advertisers still make money, and a product is more accessible.

So far, CBS has a similar service that they are offering, with the major difference being that you can buy it without a subscription, but that is the only way to get that (plus an offering of other CBS shows). We’re actually not sure at the moment which option we really prefer, since they each provide advantages and disadvantages. For those with cable subscriptions, we will say that NBC’s is so much more appealing. We don’t necessarily like the cable stranglehold, but that is still the way things are.

Excited that there is this option out there now? Share with a comment.
