‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ spotlight: Will Johnny Damon hit a home run?

Johnny -Is Johnny Damon going to be an ace on “The Celebrity Apprentice” this season? We imagine that there are going to be a variety of different baseball-related puns so long as he is on the show. He is a guy who many fans of MLB will remember, and as far as athletes go, he is a pretty interesting addition to the Donald Trump lineup this year.

Below, you can get our quick assessment on whether or not Damon will hit a foul ball this season (it begins already); or if he will be hindered by not being an enormous TV personality that Trump likes to keep on the show forever.

Claim to Fame – Two-time World Series player, who spent time with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and other teams. He has not officially returned, but it feels like he more or less is at this point. One of the bigger things we remember about him, strangely, was him being forced to shave as a part of the New York Yankees code.

Advantages – He is determined; you have to be to spend more than a decade playing professional baseball. He’s a proven winner, a likely leader, and used to being a part of a team and knowing when to delegate. He is also a former New York player in a New York-set show. Translation: People on the street will know who he is. This is a good person to use for some celebrity fundraiser tasks, and he has plenty of friends with deep pockets.

Weaknesses – Being a journeyman player, he is probably not as iconic in New York has most other former Yankees of his talent level. That diminishes his star power somewhat. Also, we don’t know how creative he will be in tasks, or if he will be an interesting enough television personality for Trump to want to keep him.

Charity The Johnny Damon Foundation. This organization’s goal is to provide help for disadvantaged children in need of help.

Prediction – Damon seems like a middle-of-the-road contestant, and will probably last at least three or four weeks before being eliminated. We don’t think he will be creative or entertaining enough to make it to the end.
