‘Saturday Night Live’ ratings: Martin Freeman – Charli XCX ratings down

SNL -In what may not be much of a surprise to anyone, “Saturday Night Live” was solid, but not exactly spectacular, in the ratings for the show last night featuring Martin Freeman as a host.

How did the show ultimately fare? Think along the lines of a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is a decline of 0.2 in the demo from the James Franco – Nicki Minaj show, but neither the host nor the musical guest were anywhere near as popular here in America. While Freeman has tremendous fans who love “Sherlock,” “The Hobbit,” and the British version of “The Office,” Franco has become a household name of sorts over the past decade or so.

Still, this was far from the lowest-rated show of the season, and we expect to see the show bounce back in a rather big way next week, courtesy of the return of Amy Adams to the program. The Christmas episodes for “SNL” are usually a whole lot of fun, and while she is not a former cast member (the show often relies on those for laughs in this spot), she does bring quite a bit of talent to the table.

Hopefully, we will find out next weekend who the first host of 2015 is going to be. We’re personally rooting for someone like Amy Poehler, or maybe even someone like James Spader who is a big TV star on NBC already, and since he films his show in New York already, maybe he could get a little bit of time to make it happen.
