‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Jade Roper be one of Chris Soules’ most controversial?

Jade -Every season on “The Bachelor,” it feels like there is at least one or two contestants who are cast to bring a bit of an edge to the show. Sometimes, they end up going pretty far, but typically, they are a big source of conflict in the house.

Based on what we’ve learned about Jade Roper already, she could be one of the major points of contention this season. Her past is seemingly jaded, and we’re going to see more and more of that play a role as we get further into the season. Whether or not she has conflict with the women is to be seen, but she seems to be having plenty of it with Chris.

Age – 28

Hometown – Los Angeles, California. She lists on her website that she is originally from Nebraska, but then moved there after college.

Occupation – Cosmetics developer. It’s a little bit of an obscure job title, but it does seem like she is working on a brand of cosmetics. Before that, we know that she did a good bit of modeling, and even posed for at least one notable magazine’s website. Most of this to us does put her in the category of “this show will further my career,” even if she has a motivation of love to go along with it.

Bio highlights – For this, let’s turn to what Chris Harrison said about her in his Yahoo TV piece about contestants to watch: “She is absolutely beautiful and Chris notices [her] right away, but she has a bit of a rebellious past. She has something in her past that we will all learn about eventually, but she held back from telling Chris about it for quite a long time, and that might sabotage her chances with him. Another cool thing about Jade is that she went to Le Cordon Bleu culinary school. She never used that professionally, but that definitely turned Chris on.”

Positives – She is clearly good at getting Chris’ attention right away, and if she has been through quite a bit in her life, putting up with drama on a reality show should be no big deal to her. She does have a story to tell, and if she tells that effectively, she could be an interesting darkhorse candidate for Chris’ heart.

Negatives – The fact that she holds off on telling Chris this is a potential red flag, since it depends on why she is waiting. We understand not wanting to barrage him right out of the gate, but you don’t want it to look like you are hiding something. Her job may be a worry, and if some of her “rebellious” nature shows up on TV, she may have trouble making friends with the other women.

Prediction – We don’t have any spoilers and are choosing not to, but Harrison certainly makes it sound like we are going to be seeing Jade stick around for a little while. We don’t think she can win; this sounds to us like the sort of story that could lead to a collapse for her at some point from the final six to the final three, where she comes clean and he could send her home before a Rose Ceremony. We don’t see her winning; however, we do see this ending pretty badly.
