‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Britt Nilsson make Chris Soules see stars?

Britt -Even though we have spotlighted quite a few “Bachelor” contestants now leading up to the premiere, we’re still trying to get a read on Britt Nilsson. There is quite a bit in her ABC bio that suggests that she could be a sweet, earnest young woman who will be a contender for Chris Soules. Meanwhile, there are other things here and there that serve as potential red flags to be worried about as we get into this season.

As with all of our spotlight articles lately, let’s start off here with a disclaimer: We don’t know any spoilers, so if we end up getting anything correct here about the course of the season, it’s accidental. We are going mostly on basic information online, and official scoop from ABC or host Chris Harrison.

Age – 27

Hometown – Hollywood, California. Clearly, she’s been around the spotlight and the celebrity world for a while. Also, how many people are actually from Hollywood?

Occupation – Waitress. Okay, so it’s easy to put the pieces together: She’s in Hollywood, and a waitress. Maybe we’re reading this wrong, but it reads prospective model / actress. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but you always have to worry about motive anytime you see that. Then again, remember that the late Gia Allemand was a model, and she became one of the show’s most-beloved contestants.

Bio highlights – In the premiere synopsis, ABC makes it clear that Britt is the woman who gives Chris an impossibly-long hug. You may have seen it in promos. Also, inside she “makes the most of her opportunity as she and Chris have undeniable chemistry and get close very quickly.” Is this a first impression rose contender?

Also, Chris Harrison said that she is one of the women to watch when speaking to Yahoo TV:

“She is a stunningly good-looking waitress from Hollywood who is used to turning heads and of course has done some modeling. But she seems very sincere about trying to find somebody to settle down with. If he had to pick one straight out of the limo that first night, it was Britt, who I think is the first girl to get out of the limos. The best part was that she walked up, he told her she is beautiful, and then they hugged. And they kept hugging. And then the hug doesn’t stop and it gets awkward. It is the longest hug I’ve ever seen during the arrivals. He then proceeded to tell her it was the best hug he’d had in a long time and then asked for her name. It was probably intimidating for the other four girls in that limo. Like, ‘Well, should we just all go home?'”

Positives – Obviously, she is great at making a first impression. If she and Chris hit it off quickly, she will have an instant advantage. She also is probably used to being around the entertainment industry, so she should not be that bothered by production.

Also, she seems to share some of the same family and religious values that Chris does. This is what makes her interesting; it’s easy to make preconceived notions, but she seems personable and intelligent.

Negatives – Even if she wasn’t a model / actress type, having a big first impression always puts a target on your back. We could see her facing some drama from the other women throughout the season.

We also wonder how okay Britt would be with relocating; we don’t get the sense that it would be a deal-breaker like with some other women, but from Hollywood to Iowa would be a big adjustment.

Prediction – Britt’s lasting for a while, at least until the top eight or so. It would not shock us if she is in that same sort of spot as a Tierra, at least in that she causes some drama and is sent home before hometowns. We don’t think she is going to cause the drama like Tierra did, though.
