SAG Awards 2015: ‘Mad Men,’ Kerry Washington, ‘Masters of Sex’ among notable snubs

With every awards show, there are surprises, and then there are also snubs. With the Screen Actors Guild Awards, most tend to fall into the latter category. This is a group who often chooses to honor the familiar, and then ignore those who are bringing something new or interesting to the table.

While there are some SAG Award nominees we are pretty happy with (Peter Dinklage, Tatiana Maslany), think of this article as a way for us to be surprised at much of what was left behind by the group this year. You can see some of the nominations here; this is the list of some of what we feel are the biggest snubs of the year.

Mad Men – After a much-improved season 7, still nothing for the AMC sensation?

Masters of Sex – Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan were awards-show darlings last year. This time around? Nothing.

The Americans – It may have been a longshot, but for the most part, this is still fairly devastating.

Louie – While Louis CK scored a nomination, the comedy itself was ultimately snubbed.

Kerry Washington, “Scandal” – We didn’t expect the show itself to get any love, but its star was in our mind almost a lock for a nomination.

“Arrow” stunt team – Basically, they do tremendous work staging awesome fight after fight, and on a CW series with a short window of time. The network they are on should not hinder awards consideration.

Girls – We agree with the snub here, but remember when awards shows loved Lena Dunham and company?

Allison Tolman and Martin Freeman, “Fargo” – In our mind, either should have been nominated over Billy Bob Thornton.
