‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Will Lauren Platt’s illness keep her from performing?

Lauren -Don’t you love these day-before articles about competition shows that make you think that there really is something crazy taking place?

Well, that is what is happening when it comes to Lauren Platt and “The X Factor” getting into the show this weekend. Per a report from The Sun, it is possible that the singer may be kept off of the stage this weekend by a bout of the flu. She is trying her hardest to perform, but a source claims that it may not happen:

“At the moment she is determined to sing tomorrow regardless and no one wants to tell her otherwise … But the truth is that it is very much up in the air. If she isn’t well, she won’t be on that stage.”

We do personally think that she will pull through and perform, but sick contestants is not a complete anomaly for this show. Typically, the rule is that you have a week of forgiveness where you aren’t sent home, but that is usually done earlier on in the competition. At this stage, you might face trouble from the public if you miss any time.

As strange as it seems, Lauren battling an illness could be perceived as a strength going into this weekend’s show. This could be seen as a hardship, and she in turn could get sympathy from voters if she fulls through and gives a good performance. It probably depends on whether or not it is addressed at all during the pre-show package, or if they try their best to ignore it. Personally, we feel like it’ll be discussed, mostly because it is in the press.
