‘The X Factor’ UK rankings: Lauren Platt, Fleur East rise; Andrea Faustini falls

Lauren -There are only five acts left on “The X Factor” UK, and it is a pretty interesting mix. All of them do have one thing in common in that they are great singers, but are they all great performers or future stars? That’s what we are not entirely sure about. We do feel like there is one person in here in Lauren Platt who could be a big pop star after the show, but even with her, it could take a year or two of growth like it did with Ella Henderson.

We’re not ranking this based on a career a year from now, though. Instead, it is all based on performance quality, voting history, edit, and overall likability.

5. Stereo Kicks – Given that the competition level is pretty equal right now, We have to think that the multiple appearances for Louis Walsh’ group in the bottom are going to come back to bite them in the butt eventually. This may end up being that weekend where it happens.

4. Andrea Faustini – No doubt, Andrea being in the bottom two is a wake-up call, but the good news for him is that it seems to be at least relatively obvious as to why he was in danger: Too many similar songs, and also complacency for his fans. Only James Arthur has come back from the bottom two to win, and while it is unlikely here, it is possible.

3. Ben Haenow – Ben has been very consistent, but this is what we’re wondering right now: Has he really done anything to convince you that he is the frontrunner? He is a very good performer, but he hasn’t had that iconic number that we feel a winner needs.

2. Fleur East – Over the past few weeks, Fleur has been rising up the ranks. She is a great singer, sure, but she is also a great performer. Her ghostly edit before the live show is probably going to remain a concern for us for a little while longer, but if she is at the end against the right people, she could win.

1. Lauren Platt – Given that we’ve had Lauren ranked #2 almost all season long, it makes sense that Andrea’s fall would lead to her rising to the top for the first week. The reason we’re so confident in her abilities is that she is a good singer, but she is that rare young female contestant on this show who we feel like that young boys will like, and young girls will want as a friend. People can relate to her, and you can tell she really wants this.
