‘Saturday Night Live’ ratings: Cameron Diaz show drops versus Woody Harrelson

Here is something that we never quite imagined us saying a few years ago: Woody Harrelson is apparently more hip with young people than Cameron Diaz.

The ratings for this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” are in, and the star of the upcoming “Annie” saw a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic for her reasonably-funny show last night. The good news here is that it is not the worst rating that the show has drawn this season, as the Sarah Silverman and Bill Hader shows both struggled a little bit in this measure.

However, this is down a good bit from the rating that we saw in the demo with Harrelson last week, who also had a slightly better show overall. What does this show? Ultimately, not a whole lot. This is not a whole lot of sample size to really go on when it comes to basing it just on the host alone. Maybe a good many of the young people in the audience had other plans.

There is a two-week break now for “SNL,” and the next new episode will be coming up after the Thanksgiving Weekend. Who is the host? It is someone in James Franco who definitely has a history of getting headlines all around him. At the same time, he is also someone who is so polarizing that it is pretty darn hard to tell in advance just how many people are going to want to watch with the specific reason of seeing what he brings to the table.
