‘Two and a Half Men’ season 12 spoilers: Melanie Lynskey returning as Rose

For those of you hoping to see even more callbacks to past “Two and a Half Men” seasons before the final year of the show comes to a close, we come bearing good news today: You are going to see a little more Rose before the show comes to a close.

In a press release this week, CBS confirmed that Melanie Lynskey will be back for at least one more episode this season, and it is the December 18 installment entitled “Clockwise in Back Hole until Tight.” The episode’s synopsis does not give too much away, at least other than that more evidence that Louis, the young child Walden hopes to adopt with Alan, is going to be sticking around:

“Walden and Alan are determined to convince their foster child, Louis, that Santa Claus is real. Melanie Lynskey returns as Rose.”

You are going to meet Louis for the first time on the Thanksgiving episode, and we imagine that the thought with this casting may have been that in bringing a child onto the show rather than a baby, the show can achieve something similar to when they had Jake on the early seasons. Louis is significantly younger than Jake was, but they may achieve some of the same sort of effect.

We’ve said this before, but we are still pleasantly surprised and partially impressed that “Two and a Half Men” has managed to figure out a way to tell a long-form story with comedy this season, and we hope that this continues.
