‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Cameron Diaz, Bobby Moynihan are sort-of romantic in first promo

There has been so much “Saturday Night Live” news this week, in between seeing Cecily Strong’s new gig at the White House Correspondents Dinner and some of the hosts coming up for December, we are actually a little late in getting out the first promo for Cameron Diaz’s show with Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars as the musical guests.

With that being said … we don’t think you are missing much here. Most of the promos enclosed in the NBC video below follow along one simple theme, and that is Bobby Moynihan (who is clearly still trying his best) attempting to play up Diaz either as a woman he wants to date, or a woman we should want to date. It’s pleasant, but hardly hilarious.

The interesting this is that even though this is hardly the first time that Diaz has hosted this show, we don’t even really remember the previous gigs that much. Maybe one of the reasons for that is simply that they weren’t amazing, or that they were just forgettable. We don’t believe that she will bomb this weekend, mostly because there’s no way we see “SNL” producers giving a greenlight to someone who was terrible in past outings.

In case you are wondering why Diaz now, the only real answer we have for you is that she is going to be a part of the upcoming movie remake of “Annie” this holiday season. Expect a plug to surface at some point during the episode.
