‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Only the Young, Stereo Kicks, Stevi Richie songs, a double-elimination

Only the Young -Tomorrow night, “The X Factor” returns with another performance show, and we’ve got your song spoilers right now!

Let’s start with the news that you are going to groan at: The theme of Whitney Houston versus Elton John. How is this original? How is this helpful to modern artists? Whitney is the most over-done artist on almost any singing show, and some of these song choices bring us into a rage. So, with that, we’re taking a pretty deep breath before we get to starting to talk about them below, and tell you that there is a double-elimination this weekend. Someone is leaving Saturday, and then someone else will depart come Sunday. It’s going to stink at this point that someone goes without getting to do the sing-off.

Stevi Ritchie, “I’m Still Standing” – At least this one is appropriate, since we’re talking about a guy who somehow is still in the competition. It’s at least a somewhat-serious song choice that he can do something with.

Only the Young, “The Way You Look Tonight” – Probably our favorite song choice out of anyone. We could see the group coming up with a fun, fresh arrangement of the song that really appeals to their audience.

Stereo Kicks, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” – No thanks. This song doesn’t hold up well, and it makes no sense for eight people to sing it, since it is all about singular emotion.

Fleur East, “I’m Every Woman” – She’ll probably do a good job with the song, but we cannot get excited about this.

Ben Haenow, “I Will Always Love You” – We’re surprised by this. Maybe he has specific plans for this song, since on the surface this just doesn’t seem like the right choice for his voice.

Andrea Faustini, “I Have Nothing” – Probably our least favorite song ever performed on a singing show. We had never heard it before we started covering TV almost a decade ago, and we’ve had it regurgitated so many times now that we know it by heart.

Lauren Platt, “How Will I Know” – Our favorite of the Whitney Choices. It can be a fast version, a slow version, or something in the middle. Lauren has flexibility, and this should be an asset.
