‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ episode 7 review: Del, Ma Petite, Jimmy, and awful people

American Horror StoryTonight on FX, “American Horror Story: Freak Show” aired quite a few things that definitely qualify as “horrible.” Basically, we had some other reminders of how many of these characters are basically the worst.

We start here with Del Toledo, who decided early in the episode that he wanted to take Stanley’s blackmail and bring him the body of someone at the act. Unfortunately for him, he chose the worst possible person to go after at first in Amazon Eve, given that she completely kicked his rear end and then some. We had a whole new respect for her!

Unfortunately, Del was not done for the evening. At the end of the episode, he found a new victim: Ma Petite. This was really sad to watch, but we did see it coming. She was the easy victim, and he is a terrible enough guy to do something like this, even after a few scenes earlier in the episode where he bonded with his son Jimmy using the only way he knows how: Booze.

The rest of the episode was strange in that there was very little in the way of Dandy, Desiree may as well have been gone again, and we spent more time with the Paul love story, as we saw that her father was so angry about her running away that he basically turned her into a human lizard with a forked tongue. This was certainly the shock moment of the night right up there with what happened to the world’s smallest human.

We enjoyed most of this story, in particular the cat-and-mouse between Elsa and Ethel. With that being said, there really was not all that much that happened here, and that is amplified even more so when you factor in hearing Jimmy perform Nirvana for a few minutes. Grade: B-.
